Fred Schnell, 1MO, set
This "set" is an exact duplicate of the transmitter used by Fred Schnell, 1MO, that he used to make the first "short wave" trans-atlantic two way QSO with on 110 meters with French station 8AB in France. That was in November, the 27th,1923.
On the same date, in 1998, which was 75 years later, I ran this set on 80 meters making over 150 contacts that evening from the AWA annex that included W6's but the band wasn't open well enough for any Europeans.
It uses four 203A tubes in a self rectifing circuit with AC for plate voltage and is connected in a "full wave" connection for 120 cycle note with about 200 watts output on CW.
